The town, from the beginning of its existence, was connected and conditional on the Cement Factory. It's original character was industrial and agricultural. The economic and political system's changes brought in the 90-s connected with local conditions have resulted in marginalising the role of agriculture and at the same time it has caused fast development of trade and services for the inhabitants-since 1991 the number of individual entrepreneurs has been doubled. The biggest factory-The Cement Factory "REJOWIEC" S. A. ( former Cement Factory "Peace") is famous for producing the highest quality Portland cement, especially special cements for building roads, metallurgic cement and one for the need of gas and mineral oil mining. Lately the Cement factory specialises in producing cement for housing industry. Apart from the Cement Factory "REJOWIEC" S. A. other companies perform:
